St. Martin de Porres Shelter is an overnight shelter for homeless men age 50 and older run by Catholic Community Services of Western Washington. The shelter provides safe and dignified shelter for up to 212 men a night. It is open from 6:30pm to 7:30am 365 nights a year and during the day for medical convalescent care. During the winter months, they have operate a satelitte shelter network eight local churches, allowing them to extend services to an additional 34 men a night.
Every Saturday and Sunday, members from an OLG volunteer team take turns picking up donated food from a couple of local restaurants and delivering it to the residents at St. Martin's. If you're interested in giving an hour one Saturday or Sunday a month, please contact Joan at 206-938-0851. All drivers are required to fill out an Archdiocesan Driver Form.
