Thank you to the 186 volunteers who signed up for our 9th Annual Day of Service. We served at 11 different sites in the region and also contributed donations to 16 additional organizations, including 20 lunches for AIDNW, 400 sandwiches for Operation Nightwatch, 110 Care Kits, 11 Rice Bowl meal kits, 21 Welcome baskets for Mary’s Place, 47 blankets and crafts for Children’s Hospital, 108 mats and toys for Seattle Humane Society, 45 paracord bracelets for Operation Gratitude, and 38 care bags for our homebound parishioners! We especially thank David Lindholm/Boar’s Head and Leschi Market for their generous donations of meats and cheeses that helped make our sandwiches possible. We appreciate everything everyone did to make this day possible, including our incredible volunteer leadership team: Karen, Colette, Marlo, Catherine, and Molly! Save the Date for the 2023 Day of Service coming up on March 25!
Our 9th Day of Service will be on Saturday, April 2, and we need help from our parish crafters! Are you ready to clear out your supply stash for the New Year? We need your unwanted supplies for our Gym "Crafting for a Cause" Projects. Needed items include: scrapbook paper, paper punches, stickers, rubber stamps, polar fleece, beads (all kinds), and ribbon. Please remember that items will be used to make gifts for those in need and should be new or gently used. If you would like to donate items or help plan the event, contact Jennifer at [email protected] Thank you for your generosity!
Thank you to our over 210 volunteers who helped to make the 2021 Day of Service’s 12 projects a success! In just a few hours, you made or assembled 150 meals for the Welcome Table, 18 travel systems (baby car seat and stroller) for WestSide Baby, 22 no-sew hats and 400 pb&j sandwiches for Union Gospel Mission, 4 snuffle mats for Seattle Humane Society, 110+ day-brightening cards for Kidz, 41 rosaries, 20+ prayer cards, and 70+ cards for OLG ministries, and 75+ hygiene kits for our neighbors on the streets. In addition, we helped 3 food banks provide for those in need and helped at 3 area parks and the OLG garden. Folks at home assembled nearly 100 Homebound Kits, Lunches of Love, Mary's Place baskets, and knitted hats for babies joining OLG families. A HUGE THANKS to our planning team and to all our project leads. It is amazing to see what we can do when we all work together!
Save the date! The 2021 Day of Service is Saturday, April 24. Over the next couple months, we will feature project sites. There is something for everyone! Help the Union Gospel Mission serve those who are hungry in our community by preparing sandwiches for the Search and Rescue Team. This team goes out, day and night, 365 days a year, to search out and find those who are living on the streets, hungry, and hurting. They meet them with essential supplies to make it through another day and night and invite them inside. Sandwich-making will take place on the OLG campus and is open to anyone 10 or older. As part of her 8th grade Juan Diego Project at OLG School, JoJo is collecting care kit items for local homebound, homeless, and refugee neighbors and she needs your help! Click above to learn more.
