With some COVID restrictions still in place, 7 teens will be doing an abbreviated version of the Youth Migrant Project this summer. While much has changed about the trip this year, the need has not. We may not be able to do everything, but we can still collect items to help the migrant workers and families living in the Skagit Valley. We will be collecting non-perishable food items (canned goods, pasta, oatmeal, cereal, etc.), toiletries for arriving migrant families (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.), diaper wipes, and diapers size 5 and 6. The Catholic Church has long advocated for international nuclear disarmament with the goal of the eventual elimination of nuclear weapons. The START Treaty currently limits the nuclear arsenals of the U.S. and Russia, who together account for over 90% of the world’s nuclear weapons. The agreement is set to expire in 2021 and, without it, there will be no limits on nuclear arsenals. Click above to get involved in advocacy.
How do we dialogue in this present time of a deeply polarized society? The Life, Peace and Justice Commission would like to begin a learning process to develop dialogue around issues which the Gospel calls upon us to address but which so often lead to a fruitless polarization rather than a "credible witness to a reconciled life." We invite you to take a brief survey to select issues which you would like to enter into a dialogue about with those who do not necessarily share your view. Click above to access the survey.
