Every month, members of our St. Vincent de Paul Conference help our neighbors in need in a variety of ways, including delivering food to their homes. With so many people struggling to make ends meet these days, our pantry shelves are getting low. Please consider donating needed items at Mass or the Pastoral Center: cleaning supplies (laundry detergent, paper towel, sponges), hygiene items (tp, soap, deodorant, etc.), and non-perishable food (pb, jelly, mac & cheese, canned food, pasta, rice, oatmeal, coffee, etc.). Thank you for your continued support! Click above to learn more.
When neighbors in need call, our wonderful Vincentian volunteers are there to respond with caring support and tangible assistance. They help with rent and utilities as well as bring bags of food to those experiencing hunger. Unfortunately, our pantry is very low on food and supplies, limiting their ability to help. Please consider donating non-perishable food, hygiene items (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.), diapers, and cleaning supplies. We are now able to resume our collection of items at in-person Masses (look for the basket by the baptismal font) and continue to accept donations at the Pastoral Center. Thank you for your ongoing generosity!
A big thanks to all who participated in the Rice Bowl program this year! As a community we raised over $5800! Thanks to your kindness we have touched the lives of the people served by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the official international humanitarian assistance program of the Catholic Church. Seventy-five percent of donations goes to CRS’s work in 100+ countries while twenty-five percent stays in Western Washington to help fund local hunger-alleviation efforts (OLG received grants for both the Peace Garden and St. Vincent de Paul).
If you are a high school student who is interested in volunteering and/or completing community service hours, St. Vincent de Paul could use your help both remotely and in person with tech support, research, food bank distribution, and conference support. In 2020, our Conference delivered an overall total assistance value of $245,000 to over 3,000 neighbors in need. This represents a huge increase in both the generosity of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Holy Family parishes and the assistance we were able to provide to our West Seattle neighbors. Thank you for making a difference, and for being there for us as we continue to navigate these times together. Your prayerful and generous support enabled our St. Vincent de Paul Conference to serve as a beacon of hope to the marginalized and the poor in our midst.
Our amazing St. Vincent de Paul Conference is working hard every day to deliver support and financial assistance to our neighbors in need. During this difficult pandemic time, the needs are greatly increasing with many facing dire situations in our community. We expect recovery from COVID-19 to be slow and the needs to continue. Our Conference could use additional help making phone calls to the growing numbers of neighbors faced with possible evictions as moratoriums expire. Our Safe Parking ministry continues, despite the challenges of COVID-19. Our first three guests moved on and two new guests have been staying with us. Volunteers help keep the Hospitality Hut clean and welcoming while St. Vincent de Paul keeps it stocked with food. Thank you for your support.
Thanks to generous gifts from the parish community and beyond, our St. Vincent de Paul Conference was able to deliver approximately $23,000 in Goods and Services to 320 individuals in April alone – a new Conference high by far! Our Conference is seeing twice as many calls as usual during these difficult times and many are requesting assistance with large rent payments. Thank you for your generosity. Please continue to support our Vincentians in their good work as you are able. Click above for more information.
