The Welcome Table serves lunch to neighbors in need in White Center every Saturday at noon at The Body of Christ Church (1320 SW 102nd St). In addition, food, hygiene and cleaning items, and clothing are handed out. Support the meal by donating non-perishable food (rice, shelf-stable milk, cereal, granola bars, etc.), hard-boiled eggs, and fresh fruit. They also need tp, personal body wipes, tennis shoes, and clothing for men (especially jeans and underwear). Drop off donations between 11-11:30am in the back parking lot before guests arrive. Volunteers will unload it for you!
Rideshare company apps Uber and Lyft are offering free rides to vaccine appointments for a limited time. Use can use their apps to find a vaccine site and/or search your provider through the app. Riders will receive a ride code to get to and from their appointment(s). Riders and drivers are required to wear face coverings, leave the front seat empty, and keep windows down whenever possible. Click above for more information.
This year, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced they would provide $15 million in humanitarian assistance to support some of the most vulnerable communities in the West Bank and Gaza. With this assistance, USAID is supporting Catholic Relief Services’ COVID-19 response efforts in health care facilities and affected communities throughout the region. The funds also support emergency food assistance programming in communities facing food insecurity exacerbated by the pandemic. CRS is grateful to receive help in helping others. Our Safe Parking ministry continues hosting guests, despite the challenges of COVID-19. We now have two guests utilizing our lot and are seeking volunteers to help keep the Hospitality Hut clean and welcoming while St. Vincent de Paul keeps it stocked with food.
