Consider sponsoring a detained asylum-seeker to support their chance of getting out of detention on bond. A sponsor provides a letter of support to the immigration judge stating that you (and your family/community) will offer the person: a place to stay while they await their hearing, meals, transportation as needed, connections to other community resources as needed. Some judges may want to see income level & tax records for further proof of your ability to host the person. In a joint effort with the Global Fund, Catholic Relief Services is launching a 3-year "Crush Malaria" campaign to raise $5 million to help stamp out malaria in Niger by reaching 500,000 children with preventative medication. In 2017, Pope Francis launched the "Share the Journey" campaign to amplify the voice of welcome for migrants and refugees in our neighborhoods and communities. The “Be Unafraid” photo campaign provides stunning visuals and narratives that encapsulate this attitude. A group of migrants and refugees met with a group of U.S. citizens to reveal their fears as well as their hopes and dreams. When Catholic Relief Services started working with the federal government's "USAID" agency in Niger, there was widespread and extensive chronic malnutrition. After 5 years of hard work, CRS and USAID helped to reduce the rate of stunting among Nigerian children by 5.5%.
