Lettuce Pray: Plant a Food Bank Row in your Garden
April17,2013
by Jennifer Ibach
Six years ago, Lettuce Pray did its first collection of fresh produce from West Seattle-area churches. Since then, they’ve delivered about 6,000 pounds of food and supplies to the West Seattle and White Center Food Banks, of which half has been fresh, nutritious, home grown produce. Between August 4 and October 6, OLG will again partner with Lettuce Pray to collect weekly donations of fresh produce and non-perishable items. If you are planning your summer vegetable garden, please consider growing a row for the food bank... Most welcome are regular-sized non-cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, greens, zucchini (small ones that are easy to carry), cilantro, and almost any kind of fruit. Bring your produce to church on Sunday morning BEFORE 11 A.M. and they will collect it and take it directly into cold storage at the food bank. Questions? Feel free to contact Jane Taylor at (206)841-2601 or [email protected]. Thank you so much for the support you’ve shown this ministry over the past six years!
