In June, our SVdP Conference set a new high for delivered assistance recorded at $32,771, greatly surpassing the previous record of $22,779 delivered in April. 330 people were assisted in June, many of whom presented dire cases that called for exceeding our usual pledge amounts. Further testimony to the amazing SVdP answer to the pandemic is represented by the almost 50% increase in both number of neighbors served and financial assistance delivered over the first half of 2020 compared to the first half of 2019. This staggering achievement compels us to thank everyone involved; our OLG parish community, West Seattle Helpline, Westside Interfaith Network, Holy Family, Holy Rosary, and a myriad of others.
Given the expectation that recovery from Covid-19 will be slow, our SVdP Conference could use additional help in making phone calls to the growing number of neighbors faced with large past due rents and an oncoming threat of eviction as rent moratoriums expire. Please contact Bob Bucci, Conference President, [email protected] should you wish to learn more about our SVdP Conference and what’s involved in becoming a Vincentian.
