January 31, 2014Catholic Relief Services (CRS) (www.crs.org) and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) (www.usccb.org) ask you to contact your members of Congress and President Obama today to request that the Philippines be designated for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months.
- More needs to be done to help the people of the Philippines recover and rebuild from the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan.
- The designation of TPS would ensure that nationals of the country currently residing in the United States are able to work and to send remittances back to their families, and protect them from deportation to a nation that, for the time being, is unable to assist them in their reintegration.
