OLG HEART, a new ministry, was born out of a small group that studied racism in 2021 (using the JustFaith Racial Justice curriculum), and in 2022 asked the question "what's next?" HEART seeks to further strengthen OLG's current faith formation by creating programs that advance equity and inclusion within the church and the broader West Seattle community with a focus on relationship building.
Our Mission
Participating in the mission of Christ, we champion healing and advance racial equity within our parish and local community through mutual transformation and kinship.

Our Programs- Education and Awareness: We provide opportunities to promote reflection, self-examination, and understanding on topics related to racism and equity.
- Santa Teresita: The OLG community has supported the Santa Teresita Catholic Housing Services community in the Delridge neighborhood since at least 2013 with Advent Giving Tree donations. HEART takes this one step further through listening sessions to understand the specific needs of the Santa Teresita community. More to come as more listening occurs!
- One Parish One Prisoner (OPOP): HEART hosted a Listening Session to discern participation in One Parish One Prisoner on November 13th. Based on positive parish support, HEART now starts the next steps to participate in the OPOP ministry. OPOP equips parishes to build supportive pre-release relationships with just one person returning to their community from prison. Upon release, our beloved friend will experience the embrace of a parish community who already knows them and stands with them through the many obstacles to re-entry.
