At about age 7 (1st grade), children can begin to prepare to receive communion, the body and blood of Christ, for the first time. In conjunction with the Archdiocesan guidelines, preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two-year process which includes preparation for First Reconciliation and culminates in the First Communion celebration during the Easter season.
We have a comprehensive preparation program that includes family activities at home and in the parish, sessions with parents/guardians, and classes for the children. Our parish school prepares children for these sacraments in the midst of the standard curriculum. Classes are offered for children attending other schools on Sunday mornings.
