As noted in a recent Huffington Post article, 'Vehicular Residency,' is the fastest growing demographic of people experiencing homelessness. In Seattle, 30 percent of unsheltered homeless people live in vehicles, and it's been that way for nearly a decade.
Just outside the city, the numbers become even more drastic. In Auburn, for example, 80% of people experiencing homelessness are living out of the cars.
Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission will be conducting a survey of Vehicle Residents across King County so that we can better understand their needs and how to meet them as a community.
The surveys will ultimately be turned in to the Vehicle Residency Research Program at Seattle University so that the results can be tabulated and the information can be put to good use in the community.
We need folks to help us make this survey happen!
Interested folks need to attend the training session:
Thursdays: June 27th
6:30-7:30pm at our Youth Reach Out Center (YROC) Theater
3800 South Othello Street
Seattle, WA 98118
People can then give however much time they are able, to do the surveys, emailing/mailing them in by July 1st
Please RSVP to Johanna Cavaliere by email at: email@example.com
or by phone: 206.498.6627 for a training date!
