Dear Governor Hutchinson,
I am writing you regarding the executions scheduled to begin on Easter Monday…DO NOT KILL THESE MEN IN MY NAME!
This unprecedented action of executing 7 men in 11 days tells the world that Arkansas supports a failed and broken system. You have the power to stop this blatant act of violence which goes against the dignity of the human person.
The death penalty costs significantly more than life in prison without parole. Taxpayer dollars should not be spent on a failed system.
These men should be held accountable for their crimes, but life without parole protects society and punishes the criminal.
Victims and their families deserve justice and healing, but killing the perpetrator does not bring their loved one back. The death penalty only creates more victims.
To hastily execute these men because of a highly controversial drug’s expiration date is cruel and unusual.
Governor Hutchinson, these executions will be an egregious act against the inherent dignity present in each human person, even the guilty. I plead with you to not execute them.
