There are two fire pits at Nickelsville that help provide warmth for the residents and also allow them to dry out on rainy days. After several hospitalizations from severe frost bite, these supplies are especially needed. In order to avoid air pollution, only clean wood can be burned, so if you have unstained, untreated and unpainted wood, please consider donating it.
As some of the winter shelters close, more people are coming to the camp. Residents are in need of food (high-protein, ready-to-eat, easy-to-cook and canned food with pull tops are most in demand), blankets, tents, flashlights, sleeping bags, and clothes. Two families arrived with children last week (5/22) and there were not enough supplies to go around.
