An altar server is a minister who helps the priest at the presider’s chair and at the altar. Serving in the church is a special privilege. It allows a person to be close to the altar, to carry the cross, to carry the light of Christ, to wear the robe of baptism, to hold the Roman Missal, and to serve in any other way that is needed. When we serve God in church, we learn how to serve God outside of church: by helping people in need, by taking care of each other and the earth that we live on, and by loving people that no one else loves. That is how we truly serve God.
Youth (fourth grade and older) and adults are eligible to serve at Mass. It is also a wonderful ministry for parents/guardians and children to do together. Please contact Please contact Helen Oesterle, Pastoral Associate at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
