Pray is a ministry that works with seven local churches to provide fresh produce to the West Seattle and Food Banks. Fresh veggies and fruits are a real gift for those families and individuals experiencing food insecurity, especially to those who live in a food desert.
From August 7 to October 2, a Pray box will be placed inside the main entrance to the church. Parishioners are invited to bring fresh produce from their gardens (or the farmers’ market or grocery store) to , and sometime after the start of the 11 a.m. on Sunday, a representative from Pray will pick it up and take it to the food bank coolers. Produce can be store or market bought or home grown.
Last season, the OLG Lettuce Pray box was filled to the brim each Sunday. Combined with other local churches’ donations, this amounted to almost 2000 pounds of fresh produce donated. Many thanks for your generous spirit in helping others in need!
